TRAUMA, 2011-2015
exhibited as a part of SELFIE, Karsh-Masson Gallery, 2015
A struggle against the overwhelming tides of depression and various unanticipated physical ailments have shadowed me in my day-to-day life over the past several years. My chosen artistic medium of photography has become an outlet to deal with these issues. What constitutes the self, if mind and body are in turmoil? If mind and body are in turmoil, where can safe space be found? Can the camera document experience better than memory?
Photographic considerations of my environment, the objects around me, and my own body are the means by which I move towards understanding. These images represent a holistic approach to healing, a visual response to moments of difficulty or moments of joy. They are a reflection of the life that has brought me to where I am.
